Read moreBuilt on the established site of the 120-year-old Espanola Pulp and Paper Mill, Bioveld North is a 8,823-acre project dedicated to advancing energy and bioeconomy innovation.
The site will function as a complement to BMI’s Bioveld Niagara Energy Innovation and Enterprise Park and join a growing portfolio of revitalizing industrial properties across Canada.
With strong multimodal connectivity and a resilient industrial base, Bioveld North will honour the region’s papermaking legacy as it transforms into a cornerstone of sustainable industry in Northern Ontario.
With access to rich regional wood fibre resources, Bioveld North will work with CHAR Technologies and other partners to advance bio-based and energy initiatives, building on the site’s established infrastructure.
By reinvesting in the refurbishment of the 16 MW hydro dam, together with its experienced operations team, the facility will maintain its important role in supporting Ontario’s renewable energy supply.
The project lands include the main mill site, surrounding lands, several dams, and a golf course covering a total of 8,823 acres. With such a significant footprint, BMI is working with the Town of Espanola to align redevelopment plans with local goals.
